There are 4 criteria we use in choosing the right instrument for each child to play:
- Which instrument most interests the child?
- Which instrument is most suitable for the child physically (taking into account size of hands, height, age, breath capacity, distance to carry the instrument from home to school, etc.)?
- Which instrument would most benefit the community (for example, when the school band need some bass-register instruments to compliment the violins; or when the family enjoys singing at home and the child can learn to accompany on the guitar)?
- Which instruments are available?
We currently provide tuition on flute, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, tabla, violin and cello.
Here are some fantastic videos produced by the Philharmonia Orchestra about some of our instruments. (We hope that some of our pupils will, in a few years’ time, be playing in the Philharmonia Orchestra).
