M4M SCHOOL ORCHESTRAS
Most of our instrumental teaching is done in the context of our school orchestras. This gives the children the exciting and enjoyable experience of ensemble playing right from the start.
For an hour each week after school, each school orchestra, complete with woodwind, brass and strings, is coached by a team of tutors with diverse instrumental specialisms helping the pupils to get the most out of each session. Outside the orchestra sessions, the children all receive regular individual and small group tuition to meet the needs of each child.
At the moment we have orchestras in Todmorden C of E School, St. Joseph’s Todmorden, Ferney Lee School, Beech Hill School, Halifax and Todmorden High School.
The repertoire of our orchestras is based in western classical orchestral repertoire (e,g, Beethoven, Handel, Vivaldi, Prokofiev, etc.) and is extended to reflect the interests, cultures and traditions of the children and their families.
