Information for Schools

Music for the Many offers instrumental tuition to children, individually or in pairs, in school time on school premises. These conditions are very important in removing barriers to music education and in providing equal opportunities for all children in the school.

We also provide musical support and advice, where requested, for school staff and whole-school communities, such as singing assemblies, choir training and performances.

As well as giving children equal opportunities, we try to give participating schools equal opportunities too. We don’t charge schools for our services, but we ask the whole school community to be active in fundraising and promoting our campaigns and concerts.

We are sensitive to the disruption that can be caused by taking children out of class to go to instrumental lessons We are always flexible in working with the class teacher to ensure each child gets the best music provision and that any disruption to work in class is minimised.

A participating school must provide:

  • a suitable space for tuition.
  • use of whatever musical equipment that the school has.
  • facility for children to practise in school at break times, before school and after school, where necessary.
  • regular performance opportunities for the children.
  • DBS checks for all Music for the Many tutors working in the school.
  • distribution of Music for the Many’s promotional material for fundraising and events and newsletters.
